Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Associate Brand Manager to join the highly functioning WD-40 Brand Marketing Team.  Partnering with the Brand Manager, this team of 2 will champion the development and execution of 18 months to 5 year brand marketing strategies and national marketing programs, budget management, monthly business reviews and much more to maximize current and future brand development opportunities to achieve EBITDA and U.S. sales goals. 

  

The successful candidate will have strong project management skills and the ability to think both more analytically and creatively. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Co-Brand Champion supporting team responsible for achieving assigned brands’ EBITDA and Sales goals by assisting in the development, implementation and communication of appropriate annual and rolling 12-month brand plans, programs and promotions. Demonstrates an understanding of end-user needs and wants.
  2. Assists in creation and development of promotions to achieve EBITDA and sales goals. Follows up on legal requirements, SKU configuration/logistics, vendor coordination, preliminary program development, implementation, control, and measurement.
  3. Responsible for the creation of all collateral, point-of-purchase, direct mail programs, market development, and sales promotion activities.
  4. Through competitive analysis, assessment of product differentiation, and with company gross margin targets, contributes to the development of the pricing strategy, recommending gross sales price targets to direct customers with the consideration of distribution and retail margin requirements
  5. Manages Claim Support development and documentation; ensures retention and approval of all communications through Quality Assurance, R&D and Legal teams.
  6. Proactively monitors and controls key initiatives, appropriate budgets, forecasts, plans, programs, and measures of success. Responsible for regularly tracking and updating brand investment budgets. Prepares monthly business reviews for presentation to Marketing VP and Directors. Analyzes market trends and competitive activity. Manages coupon redemption liability for all brands and prepares comprehensive financial analysis (monthly/quarterly/annually) for Finance, including all coupon activity and related assumptions/logic.
  7. Ensures website and WD-40 411 material are current and accurate. Supports Social Media marketing efforts by monitoring and engaging in social media as directed. Manages dissemination and documentation of Marketing Communications Bulletins.   Manages Claim Support documentation and retention and coordinates approval of all communications through Quality Assurance, R&D and Legal teams.
  8. Collaborates with coach and cross-functionally on implementation of brand exit plans. Develops and/or reviews, revises, and routes all P&Ls to ensure that assumptions are accurate and that the contribution levels satisfy company objectives.
  9. Supports management of agency partners to ensure tactics and activities are consistent with Marketing Plan.
  10. Utilizes primary and secondary data sources such as, COGNOS and Innatrack to analyze the efficiency and effectiveness of various marketing promotions across assigned brands, as well as market trends and competitive activity.
  11. Supports and executes the global legal and intellectual property compliance policy and process to ensure the protection and growth of the assets of the company.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant brand marketing experience in consumer package goods (CPG).
  • Development and execution of promotional concepts, marketing plans, collateral development, tactical P&L execution, forecasting, providing strategic direction, creative briefings, and appropriate levels of critical feedback
  • Budget and AC Nielsen analytics and report generation. 3+ years’ experience analyzing data from a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • New product development and/or trade marketing relevant training
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field. MBA preferred.
