Overview

This key role leads the strategic marketing vision, planning and execution for WD-40 brand portfolio to ensure attainment of revenue and EBITDA goals. The successful candidate will collaborate across the organization to synergize insights and gain alignment and participation on all marketing plans and brand positioning. In addition, this role collaborates with Global marketing and sales teams for alignment and knowledge sharing. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies for assigned WD-40 brands in attainment of company goals.
  • Leads the direction, planning, execution, post analysis and ongoing review of the U.S. strategic marketing plans as well as collaborates with key internal partners on the communication strategy.
  • Accountable for development and leadership of brand architecture, brand segmentation, brand positioning, brand guidelines and consistent communication of brand messaging.
  • Collaborates in the identification of U.S. market research needs. Analyzes and synthesizes a broad array of data, research and market intelligence to identify and define broad brand messaging to achieve competitive activity impact.
  • Brings greater discipline to the integration of research & competitive data in strategic plans and execution of plans.
  • Develops, monitors and controls key initiatives, budgets, P&Ls, forecasts, plans, programs and measures of success for accurate reporting as well as provides guidance to internal partners for quarterly reporting.
  • Collaborates with Innovation Team in the development of line extensions and new product opportunities. Partners with Innovation, R&D, Quality, Finance and Operations to identify, develop, quantify and qualify renovation and promotional special packs and displays.
  • Manages all aspects of relationship with agency partners, which includes rate negotiation and ensuring agencies are knowledgeable of the WD-40 brand strategies to successfully drive growth.
  • Collaborates on development of strategies and plans for public relations and other media/press outreach activities.
  • Partners with brand teams to maximize sales opportunities as well as works with leadership to plan and executive key sales and marketing meetings
  • Works with R&D and Operations to identify, analyze, and implement cost of goods reductions. Supports and executes the global legal and intellectual property compliance policy to ensure the protection and growth of the assets of the company.
  • Provide leadership, training and coaching in support of employee development as well as manage employee performance to ensure job expectations are being met.
  • Participates in global meetings to share knowledge and ensure consistency of key brand assets.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years of brand management and sales experience within CPG with a minimum of 3 years of director-level experience desired
  • 7+ years leadership experience, including performance management, coaching and career development.
  • Strong experience in all aspects of brand marketing, including strategic planning, new product development and launch, advertising, PR, promotion, and marketing research.
  • Understanding of marketing trends and technologies across range of demographics and end-user groups.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in growing established businesses and turning around declining businesses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field. MBA or other graduate level degree, preferred.
