    Snapshot of What We’re Looking For

     

    We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated National Account Manager with a passion for sales to champion one of the world's most identifiable brands, WD-40! This role will be managing some of Australia's largest high profile national accounts within the grocery, hardware and automotive channels, just to name a few. This self-driven business development professional will be located in Sydney and responsible for creating and executing the sales strategy and delivering best-in-class category leadership across multiple channels. Collaborating with marketing to obtain consistent sales and EBITDA growth in our key customer accounts.

    In order to be successful, this National Account Manager must be able to build strong relationships and influence at all levels and across diverse geographies. Success will also be achieved through understanding our customer, consumer and channel needs in order to analyze, research, negotiate and grow our brands and revenue. Strong relationship management skills will ensure effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in support of quarterly, annual and multi-year plans, directing merchandiser activities to achieve maximum potential sales volume and champion category management initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Responsible for assigned National Account customers as the principal contact charged with utilizing company resources to maximize sales, distribution and profit.
    • Determine customer’s needs and apply a broad base of product knowledge (features and benefits) to create and deliver solution driven selling presentations. Effectively present product knowledge, programs, promotions, sales literature, technical information, company values etc. in a concise, coherent, consultative and convincing manner.
    • Develop key account plans and channel strategies aligned with corporate objectives, strategies and initiatives. Provides accurate sales guidance to appropriate stakeholders (direct, 3rd party sales agents). Develops account specific programs in concert with National Sales Manager, Field Sales and third party agents such as merchandisers, etc., ensuring they deliver on projects, contribution targets and incremental EBITDA.
    • Proactively lead the development of sales/promotion/category management plans and programs on a quarterly & annual basis to maximize the sales and profit growth.
    • Cross functional consultation and collaboration.
    • Lead sales, order and contract negotiations with assigned national accounts in order to drive sales/EBITDA results as it pertains to terms of business, selling prices, promotional support and any approved special initiatives/projects.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop special packs, promotion and program development opportunities in the National Account trade channels. Identify incremental sales opportunities and profit.
    • Manage and execute administrative functions for assigned accounts, including vendor buying agreements and general administration that will enhance overall EBITDA results.
    • Utilise syndicated data and sales/promotional history to maximize sales at assigned customers. Insure that market intelligence is received and analysed so that sales opportunities can be maximised and competitive threats identified.
    • Identify customer needs for special research and/or product knowledge. Communicate needs and benefits of the research and product knowledge to Marketing, R&D/QA in order to align resources to support requirements and achieve desired outcomes.
    • Establish and maintain top-level contact with management of customers and third party representatives.
    • Identify and convert new business through both traditional and new channels (e-commerce).
    • Responsible for selection of and participation in all trade shows and the development of promotions/ideas, where appropriate.
    • Domestic travel up to 20% ±

    What You’ll Bring to the Role

    • 5+ years managing national accounts (major grocery preferred)
    • Demonstrated experienced executing successful strategic plans across multiple trade channels
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch sales/growth targets
    • Experience successfully selling new products and strong presentation skills
    • Experience with P&L development and management with a strong commercial acumen
    • Higher school certificate, Bachelor Degree in business or relevant field (desirable)
    • Current and valid driver’s license is required
