  • Overview

    We are seeking a motivated, experienced and driven National Account Manager to champion one of the world's most recognizable brands, WD-40! This role will manage some of Australia's most high-profile national accounts within the grocery, hardware and automotive channels, just to name a few. This passionate business development professional will be based in Sydney and responsible for creating and implementing account specific sales strategy whilst delivering best-in-class category management across multiple channels.

    The person stepping into this role will be highly effective in collaborating, influencing and building strong relationships with all internal and external teams across the business to drive net sales growth in our key customer accounts.  Understanding our customers’ needs and directing sales support activities in support of quarterly, annual and multi-year plans is a key to success. Strong negotiating and analytical skills along with a healthy curiosity to seek opportunities and achieve maximum sales by driving category management initiatives are key ingredients needed to grow our brands and revenue.

    Responsibilities

    • Achieve and exceed sales budgets by brand for assigned National Accounts whilst remaining within spend budget
    • Proactively design and execute medium and long term national account joint business plans
    • Proactively lead the development of sales/promotion/category management plans and programs on a quarterly & annual basis to maximize sales and profit growth.
    • Responsible for allocated national account customers as the main contact accountable for using company resources to maximize sales, distribution and profit
    • Conversion of new distribution and incremental opportunities both products and channels to meet company objectives.
    • Determine customer’s needs and apply product knowledge to create and deliver solution and category orientated sales presentations.
    • Lead sales and contract negotiations with assigned national accounts to drive sales/EBITDA results as it pertains to terms of business, promotional support and any approved special initiatives/projects.
    • Manage annual trade investment plan for all brands in collaboration with marketing to develop special packs, promotion and program development opportunities in the National Accounts to achieve brand ROI and corporate EBITDA goals.
    • Present company and technical product knowledge, marketing programs, promotions and sales literature in a concise, coherent, consultative and convincing manner.
    • Support below the line activities such as; marketing campaigns, trade shows, sampling programs, training, display programmes, key activities, etc.
    • Accountable for accurate and timely account plans, sales forecasts and reporting
    • Accountable for effective cost/margin management and maintenance of budgets
    • Accountable for developing and seeking contract approval for sales terms and price. Monitor the application of agreed terms.
    • Monitor and actively support customers websites in harmony with marketplace strategy
    • Review customer results through the analysis of various data and business intelligence in order to define adequate actions in relation to the customer and company’s strategy.
    • Integrates retail category strategy and marketing/ecommerce programs in concert with customers and internal marketing partners
    • Manage third party sales support team to ensure they drive company goals and revenue
    • Domestic travel up to 20% ±  

    Qualifications

    What You’ll Bring to the Role

    • 5+ years managing national accounts (major grocery preferred)
    • Demonstrated experienced successfully executing strategic plans across multiple channels
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch sales/growth targets
    • Experience successfully selling new products and strong presentation skills
    • Experience with P&L development and management with a strong commercial acumen
    • Higher school certificate, Bachelor Degree in business or relevant field (desirable)
    • Current and valid driver’s license is required
