    Position Overview

    Let’s face it. The retail world has changed, lines have blurred and businesses and consumers alike want to shop how they want to shop and that means whenever, wherever, however they want. We are looking for an e-commerce change agent and technician to blaze a path with our key customers that leverage the e-commerce platform such as Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Lowes, AutoZone, etc.  WD-40 Company does not sell direct to users. Instead, we provide e-commerce retailers and distributors with brand marketing support, images, product information and insights.  The E-Commerce Sales Manager will have direct responsibility for Amazon and a few other E-commerce pure play customers and will collaborate with the National Account managers of the high profile retailers that actively participate in their own E-commerce initiatives. This position is responsible for the development and execution of account plans to support the e-commerce trade channel, maximizing sales and profit growth.     Summary of Expectations

    • Collaborate across sales team to guide and service customers within an e-commerce platform.
    • Develop key e-commerce account plans and channel strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
    • Develop account specific programs in concert with sales director, field sales and third party agents, agencies, distributors, etc., ensuring they deliver on projects, sales goals, contribution targets and incremental EBITDA.
    • Manage and lead the relationships with 3rd party brokers and 3rd party partnerships
    • Teach others in the organization, with a focus within Sales, on key principles and practices within the field of e-commerce
    • Establish criteria/process that will qualify customers/re-sellers/ 3P agents
    • Meet or exceed established new business sales goals in line with company’s business strategy
    • Research and identify new business opportunities, initiating contact and follow up as needed to open the account
    • Present products, performance, price and value, in a meaningful and creative way to customers/distributors which will convert into new business
    • Proactively lead the development of sales, promotion, and category management plans to maximize the sales and profit growth.
    • Lead sales orders and contract negotiations with assigned e-commerce national accounts
    • Ability to analyze data and summarize results and insights. Able to incorporate complex data from multiple sources and distill the data into useful, actionable information to identify opportunities for growth, increased distribution and sales.
    • Accompany national account managers of e-commerce customers with brick-and-mortar locations customer planning and review meetings.
    • Utilize available e-commerce sales data, promotional effective data, and other syndicated data to understand financials, assess trends and make recommendations to maximize sales.
    • Identify and communicate needs and benefits of special research and/or product knowledge to key stakeholders to align resources to achieve desired outcome.
    • Highly proficient in the resolution of problems relating to allocation of time, talent, and resources within budget project objectives, company policies, principles, practices and programs; able to prioritize effectively
    • Be entrepreneurial – identify opportunities or risks and optimizes outcomes by initiating action appropriately


    • 5+ years leading national CPG accounts sales management
    • 3+ years responsibility for brand sales to e-commerce retailers, including 1P and 3P
    • 3+ years demonstrated history of working through strategic resellers to e-commerce retailers
    • Proven track record of increasing sales and margins via online marketplaces
    • Proficient knowledge of: Amazon Marketing Services and online marketplaces, and e-commerce user experience, functionality and protocol & search engine optimization
    • Successful demonstration of strategic planning and tactical execution across multiple trade channels
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field. MBA a plus
    • Current and valid driver’s license is required – company car provided
    • Ability to travel domestically travel up to 60%
